10th Gay Easter Parade Raises an Astounding $15,518.75 for Food For Friends

The 10th Gay Easter Parade, the largest and most successful in the history of the organization, raised an astounding $15,518.75 after expenses for Food For Friends. This brings the total donated to charity to over $63,643. The parade was led by Easter Grand Marshals X Tony Leggio and Marcy Marcell. View photos on pages 18, 22 and 40.

Parade revenues totalled $20,950 including $1,537 from the 1st Eggstravaganza at Billy's in Slidell, $1,674 from the 7th Spring Fever Star-Studded Show & Auction at 4 Seasons in Metairie, $3,255 from the 8th Super Star Studded Drag Extravaganza & Auction at JohnPaul's, $3,711 from the 10th Purple Party Easter Grand Marshals Reception at Double Play, $10,448 in sponsorships, $275 from vehicle entry fees and $50 from an Opal Masters performance at JohnPaul's.

Expenses totalled $5,431.25 including $1,750 for two bands, $1,500 for insurance, $1,050 for the parade police detail, $680 for Easter Grand Marshal carriages, $100 for Spring Fever DJ, $96 for GEP pins, $80 for Eggstravaganza shuttle driver, $50.25 for parade permit, $50 for Drag Extravaganza DJ, $50 for Eggstravaganza door person and DJ, and $25 for Purple Party door person.

10th Purple Party Raises $4,311 for 10th Gay Easter Parade at The Double Play

The 10th Annual Purple Party: Official Easter Grand Marshals Reception, Buffet & Auction hosted by The Double Play brought in $4,311 for the 10th Gay Easter Parade benefiting Food For Friends. The event raised $3,711 plus $600 in sponsorships.

Top bids in the auctions included $100 for the Inside Out Photo Book donated by FAB from Electra City and Tittie Toulouse, $350 for the Emerald Easter Egg from Chuck Turner, $250 for the Silver Comb & Hairpins Shadowbox from Hoyle Byrd, $225 for the Christopher Scott Brumfield Rabbit Sculpture from Franco Butirro, $700 for the 12 Person Wagon in the Easter Parade from Kurt Goodman donated by Lords of Leather, $600 for the Purple Easter Basket from Elizabeth Bouvier, $225 for the Emerald Easter Egg Re-Auction from Rhonda Roget totalling $2,450.

Door donations brought in $495, raffles $424 and egg raffles $342 totalling $1,261.

Sponsorships included $200 from Ron Dewhirst, $100 from Orlando Aloe/Society Page, $100 from Charlie Hooper, $100 from Larry Miller and $100 from Lee Worrells.

The only expense was $25 for the door person.

The party honored Easter Grand Marshals (EGMs) X Tony Leggio and Marcy Marcell, and all past grand marshals. Past Grand Marshals include EGMs I Rip and Marsha Naquin-Delain, EGMs II Larry Bagneris and the late Miss Do Moreland, EGMs III Timm Holt and Teryl-Lynn Foxx, EGMs IV George Simons and Electra City, EGMs V Brett Messmer and Princesse Stephaney, EGMs VI James Swire and Lisa Beaumann, EGMs VII Doc Reed and Opal Masters, EGMs VIII Michael Elias and Tom "Rona" Conners, and EGMs IX Orlando Aloe and Safonda Peters.

8th Super Star Studded Drag Extravaganza Raises $3,255 for 10th Gay Easter Parade

The 8th Annual Super Star Studded Drag Extravaganza & Auction raised $3,255 for the 10th Gay Easter Parade benefiting Food For Friends. Hosted at JohnPaul’s in New Orleans, the event was emceed by Easter Grand Marshal X Tony Leggio and EGM VII Opal Masters. Top bid for the Blue Easter Basket Auction from Lord King XXVI Gary Vandeventer brought in $675, while Double Play's Chuck Turner's top bid of $225 brought home the Bronze Easter Egg, and Cutter's Mac McAll's top bid of $150 brought home the Tibet Necklace Shadowbox Auction.

The once in a lifetime Man I Feel Like A Woman Put Rip in Drag Auction raised $1,092 with top bids of $80 for the dress from Gary Vandeventer, $65 for rouge from Alan Kelley, $125 for lip stick from Elizabeth Bouvier, $100 for eye lashes from Safonda Peters, $80 for earrings from Rhonda Roget, $170 for the wig from Food For Friends Director Glen Kahrman, $100 for the name of Miss Raunchy from Gene, $100 for the song Man I Feel Like a Woman from Dawn Leggio, $100 donation from Marty Curtin and Koo Gaffney, and $172 from stage performance tips.

The event also raised $680 from door donations and $433 in stage performance tips. The only expense was $50 for the DJ.

7th Spring Fever Raises $1,674 for Easter Parade

The 7th Annual Spring Fever: A Star Studded Benefit Gala & Auction raised a whopping $1,674 for the 10th Gay Easter Parade benefiting Food For Friends. Hosted and emceed by Presenting Sponsor Queen Fashions' Electra City and Tittie Toulouse, the event was staged on the beautiful patio of 4 Seasons in Metairie, Louisiana. The couple are also members of the Board of Directors of the Gay Easter Parade.

The door raised $281, stage performance tips $335, egg raffles $160, raffles $108 and auction $790. The 2 night hotel stay brought in $125 from EGM IX Safonda Peters, drag doll $75 from EGM X Tony Leggio, Wood Enterprises liquor basket $110 from Mona, St. Louis Cathedral Slate $100 from Toby Lefort, Burgundy Easter Egg $175 from EGM X Tony Leggio, Southern Decadence 2008 signed poster $100 from Chris Ward and Toby's Wig $105 from 4 Seasons Chuck Turner.

1st Eggstravaganza Raises $1,537 for 10th Gay Easter Parade

The 1st Eggstravaganza Show & Auction raised a whopping $1,537 for the 10th Gay Easter Parade at Billy's in Slidell, Louisiana. Under the direction of Gay Easter Parade Board of Director Opal Masters, North Shore's own Big Mama was the celebrity emcee.

Stage performance tips brought in $445, the door $282, the raffle $210 (items donated by bar owner Chuck Turner), Eggs with prizes $225, and the Pink Flamingo Basket Auction with high bid at $375 from Chuck Turner. The only expenses totaled $130 for the DJ, door person and shuttle driver.
